KABOOTAR BAAZI

नेट  पर  शाहजहांपुरी  लफ्ज़  से  रिश्ता  रखने  वाली  चीज़ों  को  तलाश  कर  रहा  था   तो  पाकिस्तान  की  एक  साईट  दिखी जिसपर  लिखा  था   शाहजहांपुरी  हरे  कबूतर , वो  देखकर  न  जाने  कितनी  बातें  याद  आती  चली  गईं 

आज  से  45  साल  पहले  जब  सय्यद   अजीजुल मलिक {मरहूम}  कबूतर बाज़ी  के  सिलसिले  मैं  शाहजहांपुर  आते  थे तो  उनका  कयाम  मरहूम मंजूरुल्लाह  खान  के  घर  पर  होता  था   तो  हम  भी  अपने  खालू  से  मिलने  ज़रूर  जाते  थे   और  उस  दौरान  हम  इन  कबूतर  बाज़ों  का  शौक़  देख  कर  दंग  रह  जाते थे   जनाब  ये  शौक़  तो  आम  आदमी  कर  ही  नहीं  सकता  था  बडे  बडे  मकान  अलग  कबूतर-खाने   उनकी  सफाई  के  लिए  नौकर  उनके  दाने  का  ख़ास  अह्त्माम   और  जो  लोग  इस  सिलसिले  मैं  आते  थे  उनकी  खातिर मदारात .  क्या  जलवा  था  क्या  महफिलें  थीं अब  हम  तो  कबूतर  के  बाहरी  हुस्न  पर  जाते  थे   मगर  ये  लोग  सिर्फ  वो  ही  कबूतर  को   कीमती   मानते  थे  जो  सब  से  ज्यदा  देर  तक  उड़  सकता  है  और  वहीं  पर  उतरता  है  जहां  से  उड़ता  है.

इस  सिलसिले  मैं  हम  ने  मलिक  साहेब  से  पुछा  कौन कबूतर  अचछा  है  तो  उन्हूं  ने  बताया  था    की  शाहजहांपुर  का  सब्ज़ा   पूरे  हिन्दुस्तान  मैं  मशहूर  है  और  उस  कबूतर  का  कोई  जवाब  ही  नहीं  है.

कबूतर  बाज़  जानते  हैं   की  अगर  दिल  शाहजहांपुरी  की वजह से शाहजहांपुर का  उर्दू दुनिया   मैं  नाम  है  तो  शाहजहांपुर के सब्ज़ा की वजह से भी  कबूतर  बाजों की  दुनिया में  शाहजहांपुर  को बहुत ही इज्ज़त की निगाह से देखा जाता है और  ये  शाहजहांपुर  का  नायाब  तोहफा है  कबूतर  बाजों  को.   

मैं  ने बहुत कोशिस  की मगर  अफ़सोस  नेट पर इस बारे में शाहजहांपुर का कहीं नाम ही  नहीं  है  और  बहुत  ही  अफ़सोस  हुआ  इस  की  वजह  से शाहजहांपुर का  आज  कहीं  ज़िक्र  नहीं  है .

अभी  शाहजहांपुर  मैं  कुछ  शौकीन  बाक़ी  हैं और  मैं  आइन्दा  इसके  बारे  में  ज़रूर  मालूमात  जमा  करूंगा .

There are two examples from the literature that both give surprisingly similar description of the way desert people sing:

“The train came slowly to a stop. Beyond the window it was black night; there was no light to be seen. Somewhere outside, a voice was singing a strange, repetitious melody. Always beginning high and wandering downwards until the breath gave out, only to commence again at the top of the scale, the song had the pattern of a child’s weeping.’

‘ phir jab sahraaon mein pahli martaba Huddi khwanon ko gaate suna. Raat ke pichhle paher dafatan naghma buland hua jo cheekh se mushabehat rakhta tha; dil se nikli hui cheekh se. Yeh pukar mauseequi ke usoolon aur saazon kee madad se beniyaz thee. Jaise rooh kainaat se hamkalaam ho. Nagma maddham hua aur ajeeb sa fusoon chhorta hua door chala gaya.’

Translation; ‘Then when I listened to the singing of Huddi khwans (Desert dwellers) in a desert. It was late in the night that a song was being blown up, resembling a wail —– a scream emerging from one’s soul. Missing from this scream was any use of musical notes or instrument. It looked as if the soul is in conversation with the universe. The song reached a low pitch; it left a strange sensation in the atmosphere as it appeared to be drifting away.’

AAP BEETI

I always  like to read QUOTE ,  as a good  Quotation gives so much in so few words. It saves time , it touches somewhere deep inside. NOT  all Quotes are , as such , some , clicks and some make no impact. One my friend  , who is a  Kawi  once said  " Quotes ,you like are those , which you are not  actually practicing ". This very thought of my Kawi  friend , hurts me ,  as  all good Quotes exhorting for good things  in life are of my liking , which imply that  I am not practicing good things. But I try to keep my   mind open on this  issue , as always , you are the last  man on earth to know if your mouth is giving foul smell. So this logic applies everywhere.


However most  of the Quotes are coming from menfolk  , as such , they are mostly biased like:-
Be to her virtues very kind,
Be to her faults a little blind.

But  I came across the two Quotes , both by  Unknown Author , which  I feel  gives a different  look  to  our counter part , which are as  follows.


Women always worry about the things that men forget; men always worry about the things women remember.
